This is the blog dedicated to my QH/TB mare, Miss Daisy-Mae...Daisy. Come along as I learn and experience more every day in the world of horses...

New Tush Cushion
Well, since I shared what the cats and Daisy got for Christmas, I figured I'd show what I got. I got this cover, called a Cashel Tush Cushion. It's like a pillow that I can strap to the saddle, like above, and it's soft, and cushioned, and comfortable. I went riding down the street on Friday, and the change was obvious. Most western saddles are pretty comfortable already, but mine is a little old, and the leather on the top was rubbed, so it was really hard. It was livable, but this is A LOT better :-). It's wonderful. I also got new barn boots, the Brit Middie kind from Muck Boot Company. I had them before, but now they're a size bigger. I got insulated gloves from my dad, that are, I think, wool (or yarn) with rubber all over the palm and underside of the fingers, so that if I get water on them, my fingers don't get cold. Also very good. Well, that's about all for the barn things.
Have a Happy New Year! I might do a special post tomorrow. Bye!

Gifts for All
Hello! I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas! I sure did, and so did Daisy, Gronemeyer, and Genevieve. Lets start with Daisy.
I didn't get Daisy a gift, but yesterday (Christmas Eve) I made her a salad with apples, carrots, grain, and peppermint. I suppose the gift was half from people at school because I have this thing going that if my friends buy an apple with their lunch, and they don't want it, it comes home with me for Daisy to eat! I get around 2-4 apples a day. Good idea, huh? Once I found an apple on the cafeteria ground, and I wanted it for Daisy, but my principal was standing right next to it, so I got into a conversation with the principal about Daisy, and horses, because he watched me pick it up and put it in my lunch box. Anyway, I cut up apples from school, and some carrots that we'd bought for Daisy, and put them in a bowl, and when I got to the barn I mixed a handful of sweet feed into it. Then I put them in her feed bowl, and put two peppermints on top, and gave it to her, in a fresh, clean stall. It was perfect. I love making Daisy happy. Of course, Gronemeyer HAD to come and eat her crumbs (the kittens love the grain). I liked the picture of just her nose. I thought it was cute.
The kittens got a gift in their stocking, too. The first pic is of the two of them, waiting, and looking longingly at their empty stocking. The next ones are of Genevieve playing with the ribbon on the gift, and it looks like she's trying to get it out! I finally helped her, and she found that she got Pounce cat treats! They love them. I opened the can, and she smelled them and dumped them over! I gave them each a couple on plates, and they devoured them. They come running for them now, when they hear the canister shaking.
Have a great day! DON'T FORGET TO COMMENT! I also have a dog-sister who has a blog and would VERY much enjoy comments. Her blog is at http://abbydogdays.blogspot.com.
P.S. Isn't the picture of Daisy and her tongue funny? You might have seen it already, but I thought I'd share it!

Getting Ready for Christmas.......
Hello! Just a quick update.
Christmas is coming up fast, and I've been REALLY busy lately. I have a dumb project to do for science class, and a project for English, and I'm still trying to get gifts together. Ugh, as nice as Christmas is, it's very stressful. I strongly dislike stress. Anyway, we have been decorating for the upcoming holiday, and that's what these pictures show....at least, the first one does! My dad hung a big wreath on the barn for me! You can see Genevieve in the window, inspecting it. The next ones are of my dad giving her an apple as a bribe to get her to stand still for photos. If you look at the second to last one, it looks like she's saying "Ho, ho, ho!!!", while chewing.
I had a Christmas party for a few of my friends yesterday, and the last pic shows me getting one of my friends on Daisy. It was lots of fun! I just thought it was a nice picture because her ears are perked. Anyway, we have another party tonight, so I have to go get ready. Bye!

Snow Day!!!! Yey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's a snow day today, yey!!!!! These pictures were taken on Sunday, the last time I rode. I'll probably bundle up and ride today. Anyway, we went for a little ride to our neighbors and around on there property. Now, I'm sure most of you think that Daisy's just this wonderful, perfect horse who never does anything wrong. WRONG!!!!! She's a great horse, but let me tell you. When we first looked at her(to buy her), we were a little worried, because she would be on the cross ties(ties that connect to her halter on either side for brushing, saddling, etc), and she DID NOT stand still, and she's supposed to stand still! She went back and forth, back and forth. When I rode her she did pretty well, but she fought me a little. I would ask her to trot, and she'd just toss her head and start backing up. She was not that pleasant. But I used to ride a little pony at my lessons like that, and I liked the way she didn't listen. She was interesting to ride, and to work with, and that's why I chose her. Indeed, after one week she was MUCH better. Anyway, she still puts up fights sometimes, and the last three pictures show one of them. I asked her to go down the driveway, and she went as far as the lane way paddock, but then she stopped and made it clear that she thought she was done. Well, great exercise! I started to turn her, and that's what those pictures are. Her turn. Notice her eyes?!? You can see the defiance! I finally got her to go, by kicking her hard and smacking her with the whip(which is actually called a crop). It doesn't hurt her. I know there are most likely people who read this and think I'm terrible, but it doesn't hurt her. I only hit her once so she realizes that she can't misbehave, and then she behaves and I don't have to use it again. Anyway, I hope you are all having a good day! I am!!!! I love snowdays! I'm baking cookies now, so I have to go. Don't forget to comment if you stop by! Bye!!!
P.S. I don't know if you are aware of it, but I have a dog named Abby who has a blog at http://abbydogdays.blogspot.com, and I'm sure she would just LOVE to have a couple visitors, hint, hint! Just thought I'd let you know.......

Just Old Pics....
Hey! Sorry I haven't posted in so long! I was just wondering what to post, and I found these pictures in my folder, so I thought I'd post them. It's snowing here. About 1/2 an inch is there already...maybe more. It's so strange to see these pictures. all the green, the grass so tall in Daisy's paddock. I miss summer already. I don't have time to ride that much, now, with school, and it getting dark so quick, and the cold. I just rode Daisy for the first time since Tuesday! Daisy was really restless. It was cold, and really, really windy, but we went anyway. I got a big, blue, heated water trough for her now.... Tomorrow is the first day of advent. This year has gone by way too fast. I don't like the way time flies. Life seems so short....gosh, this is depressing me. But at least I know that when life ends it's only beginning in Heaven!!!!!
I keep thinking about what I want to be when I grow up. I want to be either a kindergarten teacher,or a vet,or open a rescue center for abused horses, or be an author. I love writing. I was just thinking, I might start a blog that I post stories that I write on every now and then. I don't write many stories, but I think it might be nice anyway....
Bye!

Just an Update-Happy Thanksgiving
Hello, Bloggers, Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!! Hope you eat lots of food today!!!!! So, the first two pictures is of my mom's goddaughter and I riding Daisy double on Tuesday. She's a horse person, too, and she has her own Icelandic Horse in Germany where she lives. The last three are of our barn kittens. You all have probably seen them on my mom's blog already, so this is a little boring, but oh well. I didn't wanted to tell about them again, anyway. The first cat picture is of Gronemeyer (#2) at the window, where he sits and watches the world. We don't let the kittens out yet because we don't want them to get killed like the first Gronemeyer. That's also why I didn't post about them until now. I mean, we've had them since beginning of October. We wanted to make sure they survived, ha ha. The last two are of my little girl, Genevieve, first just sitting then meowing. I love her. They have a little cat cage in the barn with a bed that covers all sides of it lined with fleece, so they're nice and warm.
Well, that's it! Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Trail Riding, and Other Random Pictures
Hey! Sorry I haven't posted in awhile! The first picture is of the view you get from the top of our neighbor's property. These neighbors live across the street from us and I asked them about a month ago if I could ride on their property and they said yes. They have a house on a big hill, and at the top of it there is a line of trees with an opening that goes into a big open meadow. Well, it's not that big, but it has trails mowed through it, and if I ride up to it, and around in it, we at least have somewhere else to go then to the road. On Sunday my family and the dog and Daisy all went for a walk together, and the last two pictures are of that. The first is of me on our trail, and the second is of me and Daisy trotting across the street to the neighbors. The last picture is just a picture my mom took at some point this fall that I just found in her folders. My computer is broken right now, which is why I haven't posted lately. I'm sorry for those waiting for a post on Abby's blog. She says to tell you that she might post tonight, too. So, take a look!!!!!
Bye!
P.S. Her face in the last picture looks kind of gross because she got a cut about 2 months ago, and I had to cover it in an antibiotic cream, which is what is smeared across her face, just in case you wondered. :-)

Video of Our First Day
This is a video taken by Anika on the day I got Daisy. I find it sad that I don't sound so happy because really, I was bursting with joy! Just beforehand my mom said the best words ever (I know, I'm so cheesy!): "Should I write a check?". Well, I guess you can guess what I said! Ha ha!
Daisy's old owner has started a 4H club in our area, and I'm in it! I'll be able to (hopefully) show Daisy next summer!!!!!!! I really hope I can! I'm so excited. Anyway, I have to go to bed. I was at a sleep over last night and now I'm dead tired. Good night!

Afternoon Naptime
A few days ago (Tuesday, I think), my mom looked out the window while I was in school and saw this. I find it wonderful that Daisy dared to lie down alone in her pasture. She really must love it here. Horses don't normally lie down in their pasture unless they have another horse "Guarding" them. My mom said that Daisy just lie down for 10-15 minutes and took a nap, and she didn't even get up when my mom came out to take a picture! I wish I'd been there. I just wanted to share that(haha, my posts are getting shorter and shorter). I will hope to post again in a few days. Bye!

Fall is Here, and So it Bow Hunting
I'm just posting to keep you guys entertained, so this has to be fast.
Hunting season has come (for bow hunters, like my father), and now I have to wear a vest, seen in the pictures, when I go in the woods. I also have to sing dumb and confusing songs about riding in the woods during hunting season so that I don't get shot :-). Haha. The fall is beautiful here in the woods. The leaves are so pretty, and when they fall the woods smell really sweet. These pictures are just random. I got a real long whip, and blue one(shown in first picture), and now I'm longing a lot more. I like it. Today was really warm, for October. In the 70's. The picture at the bottom was from today. I went riding after that.
Hey, if you want to see a picture of a hunter that I know (wink, wink), go to my mom's faces blog here.

Craig Cameron: Advanced Leading
This is a video I just found oh Horsecity.com that really interested me. It teaches you how to lead your horse correctly. I'm going to try to do this with Daisy. It's probably not that interesting for all you people, but I felt like posting it anyway :-). Daisy isn't very good with leading. She isn't that submissive, so I'm hoping that if I try what the guy in the video says to do, she will be better. Well, I'm going riding now! Bye!

A Trip Down Memory Lane
I would have posted more pictures of Grenuvie today, but unfortunately he ran away last Monday. He has been missing almost 4 days now. We think he may be in a tree somewhere, or lost in the woods or.....eaten. Fox, raccoon, owl, etc., would think of Gronemeyer as a great treat, I'm sure. :-( Well, that's the food chain. We may try to get anther kitten and get two instead of one, and maybe they will band together, and protect and help each other. So, I though I'd post some pictures of the first few days that I owned Daisy. The first picture is from Daisy's old owner. Her dad is riding her. It was one of the first pictures I ever saw of Daisy. The second one is of my aunt test riding her, and the third is of me riding her. It was EXTREMELY cold that day....which is why we don't look that happy. The third is of her in the paddock there, and the last one is her after she came in. She was really muddy and still had part of her winter coat, so she looked scruffy. I just thought I'd post some old pictures. Hi, mom! See, I posted! :-)
I'm not sure when I will post again, so...........
