Vet Visit

Today the vet came to give Daisy her yearly shots. Daisy got rabies done, a west nile virus vaccine, a strangles vaccine (disease horses get, highly contagious, see here to learn more), a spring shot that combines tetanus, a flu vaccine, rhinopneumonitis (not quite sure what that is, I'll google it) and Eastern/Western encephalitis. They also take her blood for a 'coggins' test, which is required for showing, and it gives you a paper that shows all the horse's markings, it looks like this. She did GREAT this year-last year we only had to do rabies and coggins, and she was annoyed and we had to put that head thing on, shown in the pictures. I don't know what it's called, but it 'hits pressure points' behind her ears and inside her lip that make her sleepy. The thing works GREAT. You can pull the string and it's hooked to a little pulley (see yellow arrow in pic.) that makes it tighter. The strangles vaccine is a thing that you squirt into the horse's nose and most horse's don't like it, including Daisy. She started to toss her head, and she did toss it, but I pulled the thing tighter and she pretty much calmed down. She's good for a year now! Hopefully I won't need the vet until next year! :D

On another thought, I signed papers for Daisy for showing this summer and my 4H leader (Daisy's old owner) is going to let me show her English Thoroughbred, Bubba, at the county fair! I'll show him English...not that I know much about English, but I guess I'll learn. He's the 'black' horse in this post. He's pretty cool-I took care of him at shows. That's the OTHER thing-one week before I show Daisy I'm going to my 4H's leader's house and spending the week there (with Daisy, she'll trailer her there) so that I can 'train' with Daisy for the show, and practice with Bubba. Like a horse camp, except (in my opinion) more fun because I have Daisy! The week of the show I'll (probably) also stay at the house because Daisy will still be boarded there for the time we show because we'll trailer back and forth to the show grounds everyday.

So, I want summer to come! I don't know if you noticed, but I have a counter at the bottom of the page that counts down to 2:15 on the 26th of June-The time school lets out! SO exciting! :D

Have a nice week, everyone! (oh, if you haven't seen the post below this, check it out! :)

Slideshow of Ft. Lauderdale Trip 2008

This is a slide show overview of our trip to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida...lots of pics, a little long...I hope you like it!

If you're wondering about the picture of the dog at the end of the slide, check out http://abbydogdays.blogspot.com .

We had a wonderful trip, I'm glad to be home! I'll post something about Daisy soon, just want to say, she shed a lot of hair while I was gone, so she's really slender and pretty---no more fuzzy bear! :D The cats are good, too...lately they are killing snakes...they killed three just in the week I was gone. I have a feeling the snakes will be no more by the end of the summer!

OH, btw, you can hit the little "X" in the corner of the music video so it goes small and you can see the slide. ALSO, if the words don't come up on the slide, move your mouse over the slide. ;-)

Boots and a Show Shirt

Florida is nice....I don't know how else to start posts, lol...

Today my father surprised me by driving us to a totally western store...I can't remember what the store is called. Anyway, it sold western boots, show clothes, western hats, belt buckles, and western and English saddles and other horse supplies. The entire back of the store was cowboy boots and my dad bought me a pair...I feel REALLY blessed and oh so spoiled...I am spoiled. The pair is shown in both pictures. The boots are handmade with lizard skin (ew) but they are really cool. Then we browsed western show shirts and my dad bought me the one above. I'm really excited now-I'll wear the shirt and boots when I show this summer...sorry, I didn't have a pair of jeans to finish the look, so I had to wear khakis... :D

I'll post this coming weekend-we fly back on Wednesday and I'll be busy with school on Thursday and Friday. I'll share pictures and stories this weekend.

Just an Update------AND A TAG!

Hello, ladies and gents!

I'm enjoying Ft. Lauderdale quite a bit...it's HOT here! LOL...I don't have any pictures because I'm too lazy to put them on my mom's laptop, upload them, take them back OFF the laptop...so you'll get a slide show of pictures when I get back...so far we went to Emeril's with a friend for lunch on Thursday, saw the movie Expelled yesterday, today we went to our favorite church for a service, spent the morning at the beach...more next weekend with the pictures....I do worry a little about Daisy and our kittens, and the chickens, and the dog (in the kennel, check her blog here for more info), but I'm sure it's ok...I know though, when I get back, I'll have my hands full with Daisy! She won't have been ridden for a week! The person taking care of her tried to lead line walk her today, and she wouldn't do it! My horse is SOOO stubborn! You think she'd behave better with someone else to look good...but no, she doesn't...it's amazing that I love her so much, yet she's so stubborn sometimes...well, I'll figure it out...anyway, I'll post more later. If you'd like to see pictures of where where we are as a kind of 'taste' of the awesome pictures I have, check out my mom's blog...her pictures are alright, amateur compared to mine, but it's ok for now, I guess! :-P (JK mom! LOL)

OOPS! I JUST remembered, Strivin tagged me! Sorry, I don't have time to do links, but I'll do my tag...I have to make a poem thing with my name. Here it is:

M-mighty....GOSH, I don't know!
E-energetic
L-loving
L-loyal...wow,I sound like I'm a dog...
I-impulsive
M-uh huh, another 'M'...umm....manlike----by that I mean I'm human. :-P
A-awesome
U-ummmmmmmmmm-er (Hehe, I'm being lazy)
S-silly

Sorry, no one left to tag for this one! :D

Spring---and HERE I COME FT. LAUDERDALE!

Hello! Spring has sprung here in our neck of the woods, and I LOVE it! We did have (gasp, choke, hack, scream) snow on Sunday, but it melted during the day, and this coming week we're supposed to be in mid to high 80's! GASP! OOPS! I just mixed Florida weather up with NY weather! Haha. Yes, tomorrow morning we (my mom and I) are leaving to meet my dad in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. But don't worry, little New Yorkers, there will be high 70's while we're gone! Not too bad! Anyway, we have a nice 'young lady' taking care of our animals for us.

First picture is of sun over our house, second is of our indoor (fat) cat, Freckles, lying in the sun, and the third is of Genevieve lying on a lawn chair outside. She looks like the perfect little cat. I added the little picture to the corner just for fun-it's her about to pounce on her brother (brother cut out of the picture, though). She's a cutie. I'll post more when I get back, right now I have some last minute packing to do. We're leaving our house tomorrow morning at 8:30am. I may or may not post when we're in Ft. Lauderdale-I'm bringing my camera and my mom is bringing her laptop, so it all depends on if I'm lazy or not. :D

Talk to you sooner or later, I guess!

Grooming Daisy Video

Grooming Daisy today....these 3 posts should hold you over awhile, lol....check the 2 posts below this, please.....sry, the video's boring....

Video of Road Riding

Riding on the road video...randomness....MAKE SURE YOU CHECK OUT THE POST BELOW THIS ONE, it explains the movie...kind of...bye.

Pictures from Today

I took these pictures today and yesterday of Daisy. The pictures of her tacked up western are from today and the road riding pictures and the picture of her standing with the house in the back round are from yesterday and the day before...Today was, I have to say, a WONDERFUL day. The weather was gorgeous, really warm, sunny, the birds are chirping...*sigh*...just wonderful. I took time today to braid thick braids into Daisy's mane because when I went outside to groom her and ride she was breathing hard like she was hot, so I thought that maybe if the side of her neck could get air (it couldn't because it was covered by Daisy's thick mane) then she may be cooler. I braided most of it in thick, kind of sloppy braids...Is my reasoning any good, or do you guys think that braiding her mane doesn't help whatsoever? Anyway, then we went riding, a nice slow ride because I didn't want her to get any hotter then she already was. Yesterday I took the pictures of riding on the road, and a video, which I will post ASAP--actually, right after this post.

Rosin Eating Zombies from Outer Space

First, before I tell you about all the stuff below, I have to thank Gudl, my mom, for this wonderful "Excellent blogger" award! Thank you! I will pass this award onto:
  1. Misha, who is a great fellow writer/Christian/horse lover/blogger.
  2. Ummm....well, while browsing blogs, I know this sounds silly, but I can't pick anymore...everyone else who would deserve one has one! If you have an "Excellent" award, just pretend I gave you one, too! And to people I missed, you deserve the award!

Hey! Sorry I haven't posted/commented on blogs in awhile! I've been really busy-homework, Community Bible Study, Daisy, and an orchestra concert yesterday. That's what the movie above is. Every spring we have a District Orchestra concert, where all the orchestras from grades 3 to 12 play a song all in one concert. The song above, Rosin Eating Zombies from Outer Space by Richard Meyer, is what we played....I mean, that is us playing. The scream in the beginning of the song is done by my friend Stephanie, the second my friends Megan and Sarah, and the last by all the people who auditioned, which includes me...in case you're wondering. It was a really fun song to play, a lot of fun...I'm in the middle of the stage/orchestra first chair in second violins, if you know you're orchestra set up, the the left of the red shirted person(who is Sarah, who screams the second time) ;-). I will hope to post soon, I have some videos to post, but I've got an English project due next week and a chorus concert, so we'll see what happens...in the meantime, don't worry, I'll keep blogging, just not as much. Don't give up on me! :)
