Horse Blogger's Meme
So we all love horses. First of all give us the name, age, gender, breed, height and markings of one of your horses. This can be a horse you ride, a horse you own or one you owned.
Name: Miss Daisy-Mae (Daisy)
Age: (On August 19) 11
Gender: Mare
Breed: Quarter horse/thoroughbred cross
Height: 14.2 hands
Markings: Socks on hinds and sock on left front, and crooked blaze w/ snip...her blaze looks like a penguin :-P
We need a visual of that horse. How about a picture standing still and a little description or story to go with it.

Now that we have seen a pic how about one of clip clop being ridden. Tell us about the picture.
Show us a head shot and a short story of a time with your horse. Doesn't have to be related to the picture.
Daisy LOVES to beg for treats...she can be food aggressive, but when out of her stall in cross ties she behaves for treats. She's not all "up in your face" pushy for treats. She stands there, stretches her neck out but doesn't move, puts her eyebrows up REALLy high, wiggles her lip, and waits for the treat. She tries to make herself look really cute. But she doesn't push you around; if she did, I'd NEVER hand-feed her, because that just BUGS me.
Horse have any bad habits?

Five things your horse likes
1. Being ridden. I keep her alone at home, and if I don't ride her for a day she's sad. I know it. She has her ears pinned 99% of the time when I'm on the ground, but on her back, just walking or trotting along the trail or road, they're never pinned. She's happy.
2. Treats. Apples, carrots, stale bread, sugar cubes, peppermints, skittles, horse treats, animal crackers, etc.
3.Barrel racing. Besides just trail riding (Where she snorts a TON in happiness at the start of the ride) she loves to barrel race. She may have her ears pinned the entire time, but that doesn't mean much; she obviously likes it :-P.
4. Galloping. I always let her go on pretty long gallops on the shoulder of the road and she LIVES for it; she knows it's coming. Her daddy was a thoroughbred; she's definitely got it in her. I haven't galloped her for real in a few days, and today she was really fidgety. I was wondering why, and then it occurred to me that I hadn't galloped her. :)
5.Having her face brushed. I really itch her face with a soft curry, and then brush off the loose hair, and she LOVES it.
Five things your horse dislikes
1.You brushing her chest. BIG no-no. She does NOT like that.
2. Spraying water under her tail. She doesn't always put up a fit, but sometimes she'll kinda curl her hind end in and act offended.(I guess I don't blame her)
3. Other horses near her. She will pin her ears and though she's never done it, I wouldn't be surprised if she kicked them.
4. Tennis rackets. At fair this year, we had to use one, and I thought she'd be fine with it; normally with stuff if she smells it and you let her see it and you talk to her you can talk her through being afraid. NOT with the racket. She was nervous of it the entire time :-/
5. Motorcycles. Those things are SCARY! She's pretty good about them passing her on the road as long as the engine isn't really loud, but she half-reared at the last parade and got really scared because bikers revved their engines. Dumb biker people :-(.

Visit to My Brother's Place

So, I know this is totally overdue, but I'm going to post about my trip to my brother, Markus's, house. He is living with his girlfriend Kristin and her daughter, Savannah. They have 4 horses-Sunny, a Tennessee Walker, who gave an unexpected foal this spring named Lightning, Bob, Savannah's paint pony, and Markus's own, new horse, Buck, a buckskin quarter horse. They also have 4 dogs-Sasha, Markus's (lively, but REALLY FUN) rottweiler/German shepherd mix girl, Jezabelle, Kristin's sable German Shepherd, Bandit, an Australian shepherd originally bought for Savannah, and their indoor dog, Toby, a Pomeranian mix, I think. They live in a cute little town, and it's strange because when we pulled up, I didn't think it was the place, because it was right by/inside the village! But behind the house is the horse's pasture, and it feels like you're in the country...I guess you are. Anyway, the slide show is of our (my cousin Anika and my) visit there. We got to ride the horses, visit some other horses that are near them, bath and play with the dogs, play with Toby and Savannah, everything. Thanks SOOO much to Markus and Kristin for letting us come! It was a great time!
BTW, the "horses on the hill" in the slide show, and Ratchet and the baby, are not Markus or Kristin's horses. They are boarded at the place M. and K. used to board at. The horses graze on a BEAUTIFUL, big hill and it was just gorgeous out there, with all the black and white paint horses. The goats in the pictures are from the same place, and they were really cute, too! I have noticed that goats are very photogenic.
I know this post isn't Daisy related, but I decided to let it slip...sorry if you don't find it that interesting! :-/

Long-Overdue Post
First of all, I have to make the usual excuse for not posting: It's summer, and I'm tooooooo busy....I'm sorry! This week up until Thursday my cousin Anika was here, and when Anika left on Thursday, my Uncle Greg came, and then on Friday my cousin Renie came, and ahhhhhhh, I just haven't posted. I'm sorry (again!)! Tomorrow we are seeing the musical, Wicked (YEY, YEY, YEY!) and on Tuesday Daisy is going to Jean's house, and on Wednesday I start "camp"-I'll be staying for 10 days at Jean's with Daisy, practicing for the show on Daisy and Bubba, and then next Sunday is an open show at the fairgrounds, on Monday is an open show at the fair, and the rest of the week I'll be showing at the fair. We will be getting a stall for every horse at the fairgrounds, and spending everyday there, then trailering them home to Jean's at night. I will try to post on Monday, but I guess I'm not promising anything. I did go and visit my brother, Markus, last weekend, and I still haven't posted the pictures from there, even though I want to. I tried to upload the pics to slide.com before, but it didn't work.... :-(
In the meantime, I leave you with this picture of my brother's new horse, Buck!!! ISN'T HE CUTE?! He is. :) Talk to you soon!

Daisy Random Pictures

These pictures of Daisy are just random. I was looking through pictures that Anika, my cousin, took, and I thought these ones were cute. The first one is of her grazing after we rode her once, the second is of her looking at something......most likely me, making a lot of noise as I run out of the barn so that she would perk her ears for the camera, which is something that she never does. :-) We had to try really hard to make her do it. The third pic. is of her in one of her grass pens. Her paddock was once all open, but we had part of it separated into two pens so that we can rotate her through them so that grass has time to regrow. She goes galloping in them the minute I open the gate because she's afraid that I will close them. She has her priorities straight! The second to last pic. is of her in the woods, and the last one is of her in the barn. I'm teasing her with a treat and she's trying to get it without stepping in the tack room. Haha, I'm wearing my pajama's, sorry! Anyway, I just thought I'd update a little. School starts in two days. Ugh. Bye!
P.S. I added some pictures to my slide, although I think you've seen them all.

Miss Daisy's Braids 2

Ok, I know I keep saying that I will post and I never do, but here is a post. These pictures are of Daisy's mane after we took the braids out.....funny, all that work braiding just to take them out again. It was really frizzy! There is a breed of horse called Friesians that have curly hair like this a lot, and she reminded me of one. She was really cute with it like that. Anyway, I have to go. I will be starting school again on the 7th, so I won't post as much. I will try to find time, though!

Miss Daisy's Braids

So, this is how it went after the bath. I know, these posts are a little out of order, and late, but oh well. First we bathed her, then we took her to the top of the field to let her graze. Anika worked diligently on her mane, and I did a little braid on her tail. I admit, I was lazy, so thanks Anika for working so hard! I did a couple braids, 5 or so, but... Anyway, after that we let her go in her paddock and gave her hay to eat while she finished drying. You see me hugging her? That was before we put daisy's in Daisy's mane. I put them in as a decoration :-). Anyway, I will show you later what her mane looked like when we took the braids out. Very frizzy. Stay tuned! (and leave comments!)

Birthday Girl!!!!!!!!

Today is Daisy's birthday. She was born August 19, 1998. Today my little girl turned 9 years old. I didn't do much for her, at least, not yet. I made her a big salad with apples and carrots and bananas, and she loved it. I have never given her bananas before, and I just wanted to test if she liked them. She didn't :-). Anyway, I just wanted to mention her birthday. The picture of her is just another one that Anika took. I really like it. I just think she looks silly in it.
